Simon Baker, star of The Mentalist has joined the cast of a thriller starring Jess, Ben Affleck and Kate Hudson:

Australian actor Simon Baker has signed on to star alongside Casey Affleck in an upcoming thriller based on Jim Thompson’s 1952 crime novel, “The Killer Inside Me,” entertainment media reported Tuesday.

Baker, 39, the star of hit US television series “The Mentalist,” will play an attorney hunting down Affleck as a bored Texas sheriff who is a ruthless murderer, the Hollywood Reporter said.

Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson have also signed on to star in the project, the report said.

Baker’s other film credits include “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Something New” and “LA Confidential.” - Source

Julia Roberts will play an army officer on leave from Iraq in an all-star romantic comedy also featuring Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Shirley MacLaine and Jennifer Garner, it was reported Tuesday.

Oscar-winner Roberts is one of several A-list stars for the film, titled “Valentine’s Day,” which follows the fortunes of several characters as they search for love in Los Angeles, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Jessica Biel, Ashton Kutcher and rising star Bradley Cooper are also set to star in the project.

MacLaine will play Roberts’s mother, a retiree who reveals an affair to her husband while Oscar-nominee Hathaway will play an assistant at a Los Angeles talent agency dating a mailroom assistant.

The film is being produced by New Line studio, which enjoyed recent success with another ensemble romantic comedy “He’s Just Not That Into You.” - Source
