Oklahoma City Police have revealed that an investigation into the vandalism of signage by Jessica Alba is “still open,” but it’s unlikely the actress will face charges.

Photos of Alba gluing posters of a great white shark to public property popped up online, in an attempt to raise awareness for the dying marine species.

“I got involved in something I should have had no part of,” Alba said in a statement.

“I realize that I should have used better judgment, and I regret not thinking things through before I made a spontaneous and ill-advised decision to let myself get involved with the people behind this campaign.”

Police Sgt. Gary Knight told E! News, “Right now the investigation is still open. Nobody has been interviewed but we’re talking with the property owners to see if they’re interested in pressing charges.  That’s typical in something like a vandalism like this; we’d interview the owners and go from there.”

The CEO of United Way, owners of the billboard in question, released a statement saying, “We are certain that she didn’t mean any harm as she has since apologized. We remain focused on our work rather than this minor distraction.”
